A meetings should ALWAYS have a purpose. What do you want to achieve in a certain amount of time? The agenda should only include thos topics necessary to reach your goal.
Many a time discussions get bigger and bigger and lead you away from your original objective you wanted to reach. Take responsibility as a team: Whenever you notice a discussion getting out of hand, it’s time to call for „ELMO“. Meaning: „Enough, Let’s Move On!“
You can print out a card to lay down on your meeting table. Everyone can grab it and give it to a colleague or themselves in case they think the team is in need to refocuse! Works for on-site as well as remote meetings. Only that for remote meetings you’ll need one card per person. 😉
